Two Year Olds

Our two-year-old curriculum was designed to introduce children to a variety of play materials where they can learn, grow and discover the world around them. We provide the children in our care with a fun activity based "hands on learning program" where the younger children will learn by using their "five senses" by seeing pictures, by handling the learning materials, hearing songs and stories. The older children will actually start learning a few basic shapes and colors through the songs, rhymes and stories, as well as, hands on learning activities that also include simple crafts.

Our two-year-old curriculum has a group time, art / sensory time, play time and a learning time. These activities are not only to entertain the children, but to help them learn through sensory play and lots of "hands on" activities.

Three-Year-Olds

Exceed Preschool Curriculum for three year olds is a half-day, theme-based curriculum that allows children an opportunity to explore in a developmentally appropriate environment. The program presents detailed, pre-written lesson plans with defined skills in scope and sequence. Children experience large and small group situations along with individual assistance while exploring the areas of Language/Literacy, Math/Science, Music and Art. On a daily basis, youngsters participate in each of the focus areas and Circle Time activities and explore designated locations in the classroom known as “Centers” to the preschooler. Socialization is encouraged throughout the daily activities as an integral part of the preschool curriculum.

The Language/Literacy Focus includes reading books, learning rhymes and pointing to the letters of the alphabet.

Math/Science is a small group activity allowing time for exploration, working with patterns, sorting, classifying and comparing materials and counting by rote with concrete objects. The Music Focus is a time to explore rhythms, play musical instruments, sing, dance, discover various kinds of music and develop gross motor skills. Art allows children opportunities to experience a variety of creative materials and challenge their imaginations while developing fine motor skills.

Four-Year-Olds

The Language/Literacy Focus is scheduled both in the morning and afternoon. Reading books, learning rhymes and distinguishing the names of the letters and learning their beginning sounds are included in each session. Math is a small group activity allowing time for exploration, working with patterns, sorting, classifying and comparing materials and counting by rote with concrete objects. Science is included daily with the weather activity during Circle Time and at other times during the week as a separate activity that includes observing, predicting, “hands on” experimenting and discussing various observations. Cultural activities are presented throughout the week providing children opportunities to experience and appreciate other lifestyles in the world along with their own. The Music Focus is a time to explore rhythms, play musical instruments, sing, dance, discover various kinds of music and develop gross motor skills. Art allows children opportunities to experience a variety of art materials and challenge their imaginations while developing fine motor skills.

Each week a news letter is distributed to parents. This letter contains information about various activities the children will be experiencing during the coming week. Communication allows parents an opportunity to expand the child's learning environment. It provides consistency both in and out of the classroom and supports the child's ongoing learning process. A child's first teacher, the parent, along with preschool staff will ensure that the child receives a solid foundation for future educational success
